Overview:
The New Golden Age arc in DC Comics, released in 2022, marks a new phase for several characters in the DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns, who is known for his deep knowledge of DC’s history, the story brings back the Justice Society of America (JSA) into the spotlight, while also reintroducing legacy characters that have been largely absent in recent years.
Artists like Mikel Janín and Jerry Ordway contribute to the striking visuals, which fans have praised for their clean lines and nostalgic yet modern feel. The arc doesn’t focus solely on one group of heroes but pulls from across DC’s deep roster, with major players like Stargirl, Doctor Fate, and new versions of Golden Age heroes taking center stage. Villains with ties to the JSA’s past feature prominently, adding layers to the tension and intrigue.
This arc is well-received both by critics and fans, as it taps into the rich history of DC while paving the way for new stories. Some readers have mentioned the plot’s complexity, but overall, The New Golden Age is seen as a successful relaunch of key characters and teams from DC’s legacy lineup.

For crossover and significant events, I typically only read the main story the first time I encounter it. Trying to read all of the tie-ins with the story tends to make them increasingly convoluted and are not crucial to the main narrative. However, I think they are important to read, as many series-shifting plotlines can happen.
For the tie-in issues, I only read them as they come up in the reading guide that I am working through. This can become problematic because the tie-in issues are not always included in collected editions of the event. So you may need to hunt for them.
