Overview:
Genesis is a DC event that took place in 1997, captivating comic book fans with its intriguing storyline centered around the concept of the “Godwave.” This cosmic phenomenon, created by the Source, a powerful cosmic force, ripples throughout the universe, affecting beings and altering their abilities.
Written by notable authors such as John Byrne, Ron Frenz, and Karl Kesel, Genesis features a talented roster of artists including Stuart Immonen, Mike Wieringo, and Paul Ryan. This creative team weaves a tale that explores the cosmic and metaphysical aspects of the DC Universe.
The storyline follows a group of heroes and villains who find themselves caught in the wake of the Godwave’s effects. As the Godwave spreads, it bestows unexpected changes and enhancements upon them, challenging them to adapt to their newfound powers and confront the consequences.
Genesis received a mixed reception from critics and fans. Some praised its ambitious exploration of cosmic themes and the impact on character development, while others found the storyline convoluted or felt it did not fully realize its potential. (Full Review)

Best Way To Read:
Currently uncollected, but available on DC Universe Infinite.
For crossover and significant events, I typically only read the main story the first time I encounter it. Trying to read all of the tie-ins with the story tends to make them increasingly convoluted and are not crucial to the main narrative. However, I think they are important to read, as many series-shifting plotlines can happen.
For the tie-in issues, I only read them as they come up in the reading guide that I am working through. This can become problematic because the tie-in issues are not always included in collected editions of the event. So you may need to hunt for them.
