Overview:
Flashpoint Beyond is a 2022 DC Comics event written by Geoff Johns, with contributions from Jeremy Adams and Tim Sheridan. The artwork is led by Eduardo Risso and Xermánico. It serves as both a sequel to the original Flashpoint storyline and an exploration of its alternate universe.
The story brings back Thomas Wayne as the Batman of the Flashpoint universe, one of its main protagonists. He works to unravel the mystery of why his world, which was supposed to disappear, still exists. As he navigates through familiar faces like Wonder Woman and Aquaman, he encounters numerous foes including time-manipulating villains. Bruce Wayne and Rip Hunter play significant roles as well, bridging connections between the main DC timeline and the Flashpoint world.
Fans and critics generally praised the series for its layered narrative and revisiting popular characters. The artwork by Risso and Xermánico received particular attention for complementing the darker tone of the storyline. However, some found the series a bit convoluted, especially for those unfamiliar with the original Flashpoint or DC’s multiversal complexities. Still, it managed to spark excitement among long-time readers, thanks to its careful balance of nostalgia and new developments.

Best Way To Read:
- Flashpoint Beyond
- Collects: Flashpoint Beyond #0-6
For crossover and significant events, I typically only read the main story the first time I encounter it. Trying to read all of the tie-ins with the story tends to make them increasingly convoluted and are not crucial to the main narrative. However, I think they are important to read, as many series-shifting plotlines can happen.
For the tie-in issues, I only read them as they come up in the reading guide that I am working through. This can become problematic because the tie-in issues are not always included in collected editions of the event. So you may need to hunt for them.
